Our Story

Around fourteen and a half years ago, we formed “Crop Connection”, a week-end getaway for scrapbookers.  Creating Crop Connection was a perfect opportunity to blend two of our favorite things:  throwing parties and giving happies to people.  In the initial planning stages, we determined to set up a fund raising event for a charitable organization and give our croppers an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Crop Connection January 2005 was our first event and our first donation was made to benefit a local music program. After Crop Connection 2005, Deanna's oldest daughter, Abbe, was diagnosed with an ASD and required open heart surgery in Houston, TX at the Texas Children’s Hospital. During her recovery, they stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Houston.   Impressed with the facility and its staff, we discovered what we thought would be our permanent beneficiary. However, Hurricane Katrina swept through our state with massive destruction and we decided to give all the proceeds of our silent auction to the Salvation Army.  Since that time, we have selected Ronald McDonald House to receive funds from our signature charity event.  We have also added the Jackson Ronald McDonald House Wish List and given our croppers an opportunity to donate goods.
Hundreds of items have been given to help the needs of families undergoing medical procedures at University Medical Center, Jackson, MS.

Another way we are able to give back is to the Shriner's Burn Transportation Fund.  This fund allows the local chapter to pay for a patient's food, lodging and transportation to and from the hospital in Memphis, TN.  This effort is funded by the "What's in the Box?" Silent Auction.
